Strong Wireless Connection, Can't Connnect to Internet!!

Hello, I've been reading thru threads all morn trying to figure this out!  I have a Dell Inspiron 1000, and I have not had any real problems with connecting to the internet wirelessly until this past week.  On Thursday, i used it...logged off, and tried to log on within 30 mins and I couldn't.  The next time I tried to log on was yesterday, and could not log on at all STILL!  So, i've rebooted the router, and restarted the computer multiple times, and to no avail!  I am at work right now, and don't have it with me, but any good troubleshooting tips.  The error message keeps telling me that there is a problem with the DNS!  This has never happened before, and I don't know if its a router problem, or the wireless adapter...any advice?

Thank you in advance....

What wireless card do you have in your system? What router do you attach to? What's the brand and model number? You might try turning off your DSL/Cable modem and router for 5+ min then turn them back on DSL/Cable modem first then the router. Once they are back up try again.

Thanks Gina!
Several times yesterday, I did turn it on and off, waiting 5 mins + before turning it back on...*sigh*, but I will do it again, and in the order you suggested!!    (not sure if I did the modem, then the router...its worth a try for sure!  Thanks for that!

Also, to answer your questions:
The wireless card is a Belkin F5D7050 Wireless 802.11g USB Network Adapter , and the router is a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router (WRT54G, v. 3.1)

Thanks again for all of your help!

You might also try updating your router firmware and the adapter driver.

Hey, I am having the exact same problem, though with another laptop and a linksys router. I have done a power recycle, updated the firmware, updated the adapter drivers, messed with the firewalls, called dell and did a remote connection with them on the laptop, called linksys and checked and rechecked and checked again the settings on the router, and nothing appears to be wrong with anything. Other laptops connect to the to the wirless router just fine, and access the internet from it, and the laptop connects to my home router and gets on the internet just fine. Though it will not connect to the internet through the router at my work. It connects to the wireless network just fine, but the internet won't work. When I try to ping the default gateway from the laptop, all of the responses time out. When I ping the default gateway from other laptops, it recieves all four packets. Dell told me to check and see if the computer worked with other wireless routers, and it does. Linksys told me to check other computers on the linksys router, and they work. So neither could really tell me what was going on. Any suggestions? I am pretty familiar with wireless networking, though I have not been able to figure this one out. Thanks.
