SUSE Linux 10.0...How to enable cable internet?

Hello All,

I have a XPS 400 and have recently formated my HD to install SUSE 10.0 Linux.
I am a new Linux user, trying to make ends meet.

Would greatly appreciate if someone can guide me through the process of making internet work on my XPS 400 machine.

I have a comcast cable installed and I have plugged the internet cable coming out of my linksys wireless router to my XPS400 machine. (I am also willing to use internet wirelessly if possible....for this i have a Netgear USB available)

Suse 10 might be even easier than these pages indicate since much of the info is from the days when one had to write your own configuration files. I last used SUSe 5 and Yast had a script that located the network card and set up the basic dhcp default.
 
It might be easier to just config a cheap linksys in front of the comcast modem (google for the basics or even call linksys) and the suse will find the network card and nat ip and away you go.
 
Comcast still has regional differences in pppoe or pppoa log n password format  (but I abandoned concast long ago as well)  and this howto has the scoop on many different companies and regions.
 
I use BSD now so i get fuzzier on linux stuff every day.
