tcp/ip issue, i really need some help

just recently i got Comcast cable internet service for my house, everything with the service is fine because i currently have it plugged into one of the 2 pc's in my house and its oustanding. However on the other pc in my house i cannot seem to get online, i recieve a "limited or no connectivity" message, my pc won't let me renew my ip, and it seems that my pc is sending out packets fine, but it refuses to recieve them. Comcast held my hand over the phone and took me through every single one of their trouble shooting options for close to 3 hours and left me saying "looks like youre going to have to contact the maker of your pc" the problem is, i made the pc.....and i dont know what to do! someone please help me, i hope i provided enough info about the problem, thanks

Are you resetting the network everytime you change the computer connected to the cabled modem?  This must be done because cable modems remember the last device connected and will not allow a connection to another device until the network is set.  To do this, shut everything off. Wait about 5 minutes. Turn on the modem first, and wait another 5 minutes. Then turn on the device that is connected directly to the modem.

Buy a router and your problems will be solved.

i tried that, i have a router and it still doesnt work, im thinking it might be a faulty cable connection in the back, so that it knows there is a cable there but isn't fully connectiong, could this be possible?

So are you now connecting through the router or directly to the cable modem?  Please explain exactly how everything is connected together (i.e. what is connected to what).

Don't ever have the ethernet cable and the USB cable connected to the cable modem at the same time.  Are you doing the reset procedure every time you change the connection?  Do a reset, then, to help troubleshoot this problem, go to Start > Run and type cmd then click OK. In the command prompt window that opens, type ipconfig /all then hit the enter key. Write down the output from this command or select it and save it to a txt file, then copy this output into a reply to this message.

If the ipconfig output you posted is the complete output, then it shows that either the network card is not connected to anything or it doesn't detect being connected to anything.  If the latter, then my guess is the network card is faulty.

You never said which model computer you have, but it looks like you have a desktop.  A PCI 10/100 ethernet card can be found for less than $10 after rebate at places like Frey's, CompUSA, BestBuy, etc.
