TiVo networking help needed...

I am trying to network my TiVo to my computer.  You can play music and show pictures on the TV, and program the unit to record your shows from a computer in this way.  I currently have a Dell True Mobile 2300 Router hooked up so that my computers can share the broadband connection.  I have a list of compatible adapters from TiVo, but my question is this:  As long as I purchase an adapter that's compatible for the TiVo DVR, will it work with my system?  Or do I have to worry about the brand, speed, type, etc. of my router.   If you have hooked TiVo up to your wireless system, please help me........Sharilyn

I'd go with the Linksys models only becasue I have used thme nearly exclusively for the past 5 years.  Ideally, you would want a wireless router for your gateway and then a USB adapter for the TiVO.  Setup the encyrption correctly for the network and this shoudn;'t be that difficult.

But see I already have a dell true mobile 2300 wireless router, which works great for my laptop.  No wires.  I don't have to replace the one I have and get a linksys to use the linksys adapters do I?

Right now I'm just adding it on so that I can record my TV shows by typing my choices in my computer.   I will still watch them on the TV.  But also I want to listen to Rhapsody (music) on the TV and show my pictures on the TV, which TiVo has very easy instructions for, if I can just get the right adapter.  TiVo recommends 9 wireless adapters for my particular TiVo.  Some are lynksis and some are d-link.  You simply plug it into the usb port at the back of the unit.  I am wondering if it will matter what kind of router I have on my computer.   My computer is in the office, so I can't use a wired adapter, it's too far away.

I don't want to buy one and then have to send it back.  Any advice?  Dell customer service couldn't help.

No just get a Linksys USB adapter for the TiVO and that will be all the hardware you need.
