Trouble holding a wireless connection

Hi.  This problem seems similar to a lot of other ones out there, but I haven't come accross anything that fixes it yet.  I just got a Dell Inspiron 1520 with a Dell Wireless 1390 802.11g Mini-Card.  I downloaded and updated all of the drivers.
The problem is:  after startup or sleep, the connect to a network dialog shows no networks.  If I reinstall the drivers, or change settings on the wireless router, or otherwise reboot the router, it finds the networks no problem and connects to the internet.  5-10 minutes later, the connection is drops to limited or no connectivity, and then kicks me off.  I can then go through the whole process again and be surfing for another few minutes.
I've tried updates, power cycling the system, changing router settings, and everything else I can think of, but nothing is working.
Please help!

Which version of Windows are you running?

Hi.

I tried playing with the power settings, but it didn't seem to change much.  I then started playing with the router and completely reinstalled it.  I can now see the networks no problem, and connect to mine, but I only have local access.  Windows says this is a DNS problem, but I am unsure how to fix it.  Any suggestions?

To help troubleshoot this problem, go to Start > Run and type cmd then click OK. In the command prompt window that opens, type ipconfig /all then hit the enter key. Write down the output from this command or select it and save it to a txt file, then copy this output into a reply to this message.

Hi.  Thanks for trying to help me.  I ended up fixing it (I hope) by playing around with all of the router settings, properties, DNS and MAC addresses, etc. (completely cutting off the internet and unable to get it back for a while, oops).  But now everything seems to be ok.

Thanks again.
