TROUBLE WITH THE DIAL UP CONNECTION

Question

When I click on the dial up  i can hear it dialing and then verifing my username  but then it takes awhile to verify to the network  Sometimes it says I am on the  internet but I cannot get e-mail or  search the web  I have to disconnect and then connet to the internet again . Sometimes I have to do this a few times before I am truely on. I called my internet carrier and they checked everthing out and said it was something to do with my dell. I am running  wind xp pack 2  dimension 8300  I have had the computer for about 3yrs  and this has just started a few weeks ago  Any help would be appreciated   thanks  Jean

Who do you have for an ISP? (i.e. AOL.) Let me know, and ill be able to help you out.

I am  using localnet.com  I live in the country and can not get dsl  When I called localnet they said it was a dell problem and  when I called Dell they said everything was ok with the computer and it is a localnet problem  Thanks for any help  I am new to this forum so I really dont know how to use this   thanks again
