I too have a Latitude D800 with the driver version 3.20.23.0 and I'm experiencing problems detecting my wifi network.
When I first had this laptop it had Widows 2000 installed and the 'Dell trueMobile 1300 WLan mini-pci card worked fine. It contected into my wifi lan with not problems, almost as soon as it booted up for the first time.
Since then I have had XP pro installed and now it won't detect my wifi lan :( When I check it says that the device is working properly etc but as with reginald dwight I'm getting memory failure when I do a diagnostic test.
Any one have any ideas whats up? Do I have the most up-to-date driver?
The firware upgrade is not available on Dell's website. Where can it be found? My brand new D600 Latitude can not see my wireless 801.11G network at home (wife's HP laptop right next to this one sees it with excellent signal strength) and gets a "Microcode Memory Error" when I run diagnostics.
This is a company corporate laptop, so I guess I will have to ship it back to corporate today and wait weeks for a replacement. I don't know what else to do. Dell's web site & tech support is of no use. The tech support guy in India says I need the CD that came with the laptop to install the firmware upgrade that is not on the website. Corporate does not send those CDs to us, so . I again without a laptop.
My wife bought an HP laptop and it worked perfect from day 1. Her Dell desktop is full of problems. I am not impressed.
I just reloaded the driver from the disc I was supported with when buying the computer, and what did I find. Well there was a driver version 3.40.65.0. It installs the "Dell Wireless WLAN 1350 WLAN Mini-PCI card" and now everything seems go work out well.
I don't know why DELL will not provide with this driver on the download site ???
The driver name for Non-US/Non Japan systems is BCMWL5.sys.
I finally found it on Dell's FTP site, but when I tried the web site that checks what you have installed is came back and said all drivers were up to date, not so :(
My company installs a Windows2000 Pro image and does not allow us to use XP. I don't think we are allowed to update drivers. Another person with this same type of laptop and same image configuration has no problems; all he had to do was hit and it worked. Does not for me. Our MIS guys says it is probably a hardware issue and he says he has seen a lot of problems with Dell computers as of late.
I also have a Latitude D600, and the way I solved the problem you have is by updating the driver to version 3.40.69.0. I got it from Dell in the download section, and also, I disable the option where XP let you manage your wireless connection. I have another 2 machines where the XP feature for wireless was causing problems. Use either the Dell wireless LAN utility or the Intel Pro set that come with the machine.
I have a Latitude D600 and a Dell TrueMobile 1300 WLAN Mini-PCI Card. I get signal low and 1.0Mbps a lot. I have another computer the same distance away from the SMC wireless router that has a SMC wireless device and I never have problems. I downloaded a driver (3.40.69, R76521na.exe) from Dell's website. I try and install it and it says 'No compatible hardware found'. I am connected via Cisco VPN to my work using the Dell wireless card so I know that I have it. Could it be as simple as disconnecting from VPN? If so it is kinda dumb that it says it can't find it.
There's a problem with the setup.ini file for the latest release of TM1300 drivers that can cause the "no compatible hardware found" symptom. This
thread in the Inspiron/Network board discusses the problem and the fix.

I have software version 3.20.23.0, that was the newest version I could find. Where can I find a newer one. I need a driver for non US usage.
And I am still wondering why the diagnostic test shows memory failure, is this normal?
