Truemobile11router: No longer connecting

Our wireless router used to connect my son's Dell computer to the internet, but now it says wireless connection unavailable.  He spent days on the phone last spring with Dell support when the same thing happened last time.  They finally got him reconnected, but within a month it was lost again. I was able to get it back again in the fall by doing a restore to an earlier checkpoint. And now it's gone again. He has undoubtedly downloaded all kinds of poisonous junk. Can something have been corrupted on his computer? Does anyone have advice on what we can do????????

Try downloading and running winsockfix for Windows XP from the Here and if that doesn't work try lspfix from Here.

System is Windows XP. He has Norton Antivirus and the free version of AdAware, and did run them, but did have some errors with Norton. Also never able to install Windows Servicepack 2, so he had to use Netscape instead of Internet Explorer.  Not sure what malware is.  (What a mess!)

Which version of Windows is installed on the problem computer?  Have you removed all spyware and malware from the computer and scanned for viruses using up to date virus defintions?

Thanks so much, Steve!!  I'll try restoring to last summer in order to get back online, then try the fix.
