Truemoble 1300

Question

I have just installed a truemobile 1300 0n my 8200. I currently use Netgear wireless network and it works great. I think i have the lateset drivers (v.3.20.23.0. I can not get the utility to recognize my network, the truemoble utility sees my network, but i am unable to accept or log on to it. My signal streanght is at 100% and diagnostics are fine. Please let me know how to configure the 133 drivers to get this to work. I am using XP Pro. Please not to technical as this is new to me.

Check the box in the 1300 wireless properties to let Windows handle the wireless connection, and either disable or uninstall the Truemobile 1300 utility.

'either disable or uninstall the Truemobile 1300 utility' Hi John, I try to read postings in this forum and the wireless network forum. I dont recall seeing this recommendation before. What have you heard or read about this utility?

If i uninstall the 1300 utility or disable it, the 1300 is no-longer availiable to use and not an option on the network tab.

You are removing the driver then, not the utility.  If it is truly the utility, then you have to go the Control Panel - Dialup and Network Connections - your 1300 connection - check the box to let Windows handle the wireless connections when looking at the properties.

Ok i have looked at the utility and the box for the "let windows handle the wireless connection is checked. I still am only able to see my network on the site Monitor, but on the link status tab there are no networks present.

you can have the utility but let window handles the configuration.. The best way to setup tm1300 is to broadcast ssid, configure the required password, and then turn off the broadcast ssid. If you do it that way, you'll not have any lag in connecting to a AP.

I am broadcasting my ssid and when i look for availiable networks, the window is gray as though there are not any availiable.  Still on the site monitor tab shows my network. ummmm....

reinstall your wireless driver from Dell and try again. Did you download the WPA support from Microsoft?

I have downloaded and installed the WPA from microsoft and reloaded the drivers from Dell.  Still no change. I can see my network but can not get the LInk status to recognize the network or make the card work.

What's your netgear model? If you've a 11b router, you need to use the WEP encryption on your tm1300 setting. If you're have 11g router, you need to set your tm1300 setting to WPA-PSK (TKIP encryption). When you setup your router, please do not set the password until your laptop can connect. Once you can confirm the connection, you can update the password in the router and laptop setup. Good luck.. If you still have problem, search tm1300 and your netgear model. I bet there are many posts in this forum.

Ok, last time for me to get this to work, I have the security on the netgear router (wgt624) off. I have all the latest updates for windows xp and the router. I have disabled and enabled the 1300 utility. The card is good because once it was working, but the next mornig when i turned the computer back on it was not, and i can not recreate it. I have even removed the drivers and utility for my netgear wg511t card (no luck). So i ask is there anyone who may know of anything else to try?

don't know what to tell you. If you can't get on the internet, you need to check your router setup. Best way is to make sure your router is connecting to internet. To verify this, you can use your lan cable (cat 5 cable) instead of wireless. After you setup the internet connection, setup your wireless connection and remember to remove your lan cable.

Oh yes... Did you enable DHCP on your router? Without it, I doubt you could connect to your AP unless you set a static ip for your 1300.
