Trying to network my laptop to our printer

Hi,

I am looking for a good site that can tell me how to network my Dell laptop with Windows Vista to our printer.  I found several sites, but am looking for some good helpful information, as I have never done this before.

Thanks,

Janine

Janine,

Make and model of printer and how it's connected and make and models of Computer(s) and operating System(s) would be helpful.

If trying wireless, I recommend you use these  Recommended Wireless Router Settings. Here is a post on Printer sharing.

Janine,

If the printer is working with the desktop skip to the next step.

I recommend that you uses these Recommended Wireless Router Settings

Now follow these instructions. Sharing a printer through a wireless network.

I prefer using a wireless printer or Print server so I don't have to leave a host computer on to print.

Hi,

The printer is a HP D4260 and it connected with a USB cable.  The computer that the printer is connected to is a desktop and it has Vista and model number is an Inspiron 5305.  The laptop is a Inspiron 1520 and also has Vista.

Thanks,

Janine
