Unable to access wireless network using Inspiron 300m

I recently installed XP Service Pack 2 and also upgraded the wireless adaptor driver (Intel Pro/wireless 2100 3A mini-PCI adaptor) on my Inspiron 300m. After doing so, I have been unable to connect to the wireless access point even though I see the network. After selecting the network and typing the network key, the screen says that it is connecting to the network and then after a couple of minutes just disappears without connecting. I was able to connect easily before upgrading the driver and installing service pack 2. Any help is much appreciated.
