Unable to connect to Wireless router

Have you checked with Verizon to see if there is firmware upgrade for that router.   There have been lots of issues reported with that make and model router and the newer Dell wireless cards.  Upgrading the firmware usually solves the problem.  Search the forum.

The link above is a good starting point.  Note that if you are running XP or Vista the Verizon update software will show a failure but it will actually have updated the router.  Took lots of Googling to figure that out.

 

I can now connect as long as I disable WEP.  Not a prefered state so will have to figure out what settings are keeping the WEP security from functioning.  At least it works with SSID broadcasting turned off.

I know this sounds simple - but try typing you password into Notepad or word......and check there is no strange keyboard mapping of keys. have seen that before with US & UK keyboard mappings - and people thought there typing one ASCII character and typing another.

 

Or try entering you WEP key in HEX - to be really realy sure :-)

Here is what you have to do.

Have the WEP code as 64 bit and password as 1234567.

This should work fine too.

I know my friend has FIOS and an actiontec wireless router provided to him by Verizon. On the bottom is a sticker with the password to the router and the WEP key that was setup in the router.

You should connect to the router through ethernet, sign into the router to get into setup and see what the settings are for wireless.
