Unable to connect with Intel 3945AGB

I bought a Latitude D620 with the Intel 3945AGB card.
At home I have a 802.11b WLAN. But I cannot connect the Notebook to the Access point. No encryption, no MAC-Filter. No firewall. Windwos XP Home SP2, latest drivers installed.

Other Notebooks are able to connect the AP and have access to the internet.

The WLAN is found by the connection manager as well in Xp as in Intel Proset, but a answer or a ping is not possible.
The card was changed, also the motherboard by a dell technician.

The Dell Hotline isn't able to help me.

A conection to other APs or other router is possible (tested with a friend), only the connection to my own WLAN is not possible.

Has anyone any idea?

Thanks for help.

Hi - I apologise that I don't have an answer for you - I have the same problem in connecting to a Netgear DG834GT (108Mbps), although other PCs have no difficulty. I had an older Netgear DG834G (54Mbps) which I have brought back into service and my Inspiron 6400/E1505 connects with no bother. I feel sure this is an issue with the 3945ABG card that Dell and Intel are not admitting to yet!
Good luck anyway, I'll keep an eye on your message threads - mine is a page or so further down the list

Hi,

Under adapter settings for Intel 3945 card (accessed through device manager -- Right Click On Intel Card under Network Adapters -- Properties -- Advanced Tab), set the wireless mode to 802.11b only and see if it makes any difference. Also ensure your 802.11b WLAN router has the latest firmware on it. The first step is only a workaround and if it does not fix, change it back to the default setting. Below is the image for Adapter settings screen (Sorry couldnt find the english version anywhere.. :')  )

I had comparable difficulties with a 3945ABG failing to connect to an SMC first generation 802.11a access point;
problems disappeared after swapping in a Broadcom/Dell 1490.

have you all grabbed the latest drivers direct from intel?

I also hoped, that changing the card could be effective.
But after installing the broadcom 1490 card no wlan could be seen and no connection is available.
Tomorrow I'll call the hotline again.

If the 1490 does not detect access points at all,
that sounds like antenna connections are unwell.

I assume that you also downloaded and installed R115321 or equivalent sosftware to support a 1490...
I also uninstalled al 3945ABG software before installing R115321.

I also first removed the intel software and then installed the 1490 software.

After re-installing the intel-card with intel-software I had the same problems as before.

Thanks for messages

Looks like a beta driver -- it's newer than what's on intel's site.  You could also email intel and ask if they have any beta drivers available.  This type of things happened a lot with the pro2020BG when it was having issues which was the last time I saw an OEM offering drivers newer than what intel had published.
