I have a brand new Dell Inspiron 545 with Vista Home Premium with 64 bit etc.  When I try to save or download a simple .jpg photo or picture online, Photo Gallery won't do it.  The file is there, but when opened, it just says that PG can't open it; file may be damaged or corrupted.  I've tried it lots of times - they can't ALL be damaged or
corrupted.  Or it tells me I need to update.  When I do, the computer says it IS updated all it can be.

I know the procedure is to right click on the picture, save as myname > pictures with the file name.  I've tried saving the picture to other places, but I get the same message no matter what - Photo Gallery can't open it.  Only once did it save and open a picture. 

I tried downloading and installing Photo Gallery from the Vista website and nothing changed.

Also, I was unable to download and install 'Google Earth'.  I found the Google toolbar, but it said nothing was downloaded or installed.

Can anyone help?
