Using outlook to read emails on two different computers over a home network

I have a wireless home network successfully sharing files, a printer and a broadband internet connection. Both computers run windows XP home edition and outlook 2002.

At present, I access emails via outlook on the desktop. I would like to be able to access the same mailbox and calender from my laptop computer. I have browsed MS and others sites but this doesn't seem to be straightforward as I thought. They talk about ost files and stuff which seem complicated and look what I am looking for.

This is something similar to the system at work which runs a large network on windows 2000 professional and outlook 2000. When I log in at any computer I can access my emails and calender via outlook. Well you probably know what I mean.

Can I do the same at home?

Thanks

Jonathan

Another alternative is to set Outlook to leave the email on the server.   That way none of the e-mails will be deleted until you tell Outlook to delete it from the server.

You could do it at home, but you'd need the same software a corporation has, which is very expensive (think thousands of dollars).

If you are most worried about email, then you could start using an IMAP email provider (rather than your ISP, which is usually POP). IMAp providers always keep all your mail on their server, and you can access it from ultiple computers, and have all your folders available from anywhere. Check out www.fastmail.fm for a good one.

Thank you both. It seems t

That you are basically saying no. That's fair enough, I am using an alternative system which works well at present.

My POP account can be read via a web based server so I pick up my mails on my laptop from there. Yahoo has a very good system and I'll be investigating sending my outlook calender to yahoo also.
