Wakeup On LAN on Dimension 5000

Hi

I often read in this forum that "Wakeup On LAN" from S5 (Shutdown) is not supported by BIOS.

For me, this feature is very important. Is there absolute no chance to get this work? Is that feature planned in a newer BIOS version?

Thanks for your answer.

Best regards

Dell target the DImension series PCs to home users and small offices, so there is no Wake on Lan.
They officially support Wake on LAN on their Optiplex systems.

Hi

Thanks for your answer. I read the same in the last few day. WOL now works from S3 Standby-Mode (Hibernate). This isn't a perfect solution for me (problems with usb devices after hibernate), but it's at least one solution.

I hope, Dell will change it's decision for further Dell Dimension System because networking isn't only a business user functionality and home user are also interested in features like WOL (as often posted in this forum).

For me, the problem is solved with WOL from hibernate. I'm not happy but I can live with it.
