What is "1394 Net Adapter"?

I have an Inspiron 6400.

I have successfully downgraded from Vista to XP

Each time I log in, I get a message in the system tray, "Driver not installed".

The driver is "Intel PROSET Wireless".

I downloaded all recommended drivers for my Service Tag. I followed the recommended sequence of driver installation.

The list of recommended drivers does not mention "Intel PROSET Wireless"

In Device Manager, there are no yellow marks.

In Network adapters, there are three items shown:

 -  1394 Net Adapter
 -  Broadcom Integrated Controller
 -  Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN MiniCard

The last two items are in the recommended driver list for my Service Tag.

I've tried uninstalling "1394 Net Adapter". At the next reboot, it re-installs itself.

I would be grateful for any advice.

1394 is firewire - for which drivers should be installed by default with the chipset drivers?

Regarding the Broadcom controller and wireless mini-card:  drivers for those are listed under the 'Network' category :emotion-5:

For a good description of what this software does, go here.

http://www.intel.com/network/connectivity/products/wireless/proset/proset_software.htm

If you decide to install after reading the description look on the lower right side of the web page. The download is listed as item number 2 under "additional resources."
