What's going on with my router?

I've had this problem for over a year. It was worse when I had RoadRunner/Comcast. I recently switched to DSL---much better than cable internet; but, the problem still occurs----not as often. I can get online and roam the net---taking link after link or site after site----then, I click on a link to a website and everything stops----then this window pops up with this message: "The connection was reset The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading. * The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection. * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web." I have to unplug the power to the router (sometimes twice), let it reset----then everything is fine. When I had cable, I sometimes had to unplug the modem and the router before I could get things back to normal. Since I've gone to DSL (knock on wood), I've only had to reset the router; but, not as often. It is not any particular website---it has occurred even when I first attempt to get online to my homepage. I'm "hardwired"---not wireless. Is this normal (??) behavior for a router? I sometimes feel like laying this router in the street and driving over it! Any ideas what's causing this? Depending on the age of your internal phone wiring, it could be nothing more than that.  DSL is AWFUL in my opinion.  I CAN NOT wait to get back to the States and get on cable again.

Seriosly, if you wre to go to the status page pn your roouter when this happens again, I'd bet you would see the modem trying to reconnect to the ISP.

Telephone wiring has nothing to do with it. Problem, as stated in my original post, was worse when I had RoadRunner/Comcast---that's cable-----not associated with telephone wiring. The problem persists, somewhat, with DSL; but, nowhere near as bad as with cable internet.

Firmware update may be your only solution.

It seems like the firmware or the router it self went bed.

Unfortunately, routers are becoming consumables.
