Where is 802.11a used?

Question

Hello,   jiwire.com lists about 63,000 hotspots in 99 countries. They are all 802.11b or 802.11g.   Where is 802.11a used? Perhaps corporate networks, or ?   I'm thinking there's no point buying a tri-card if there's virtually/actually no 802.11a around.   Linksys's a,b,& g reference chart says there's no public access for 802.11a:   http://www.linksys.com/edu/wirelessstandards.asp   Any reply appreciated. Thanks,   Bob

802.11a has a lower range than b/g, but avoids the interference of 2.4 Ghz wireless telephones.  It is not common to see any public 802.11a networks, but is more common in the small office environment.  Note that it requires an 802.11a router.   Steve

I recently stayed at an Amerihost hotel here in Indiana and to my suprise they had both A and G running.  Got to test my 1450 on the A side for the first time.  Both bands ran pretty well. Steve
