Wifi is connected but not connected....

You need to provide more detail.  What kind of wireless networks are those through which you are not getting an internet connection?  Are you sure you are getting a valid IP address when connecting to these networks?  Are you sure you access permission on these networks?  Are they security enabled wireless networks?

Well it is the wireless internet connection at my school, and a week ago i was having no problems. it does not require a security pass code or anything, and as far as i know its the right ip address. i talked to a couple of people here and asked if they had to change anything to get their computers to work and they didnt so it seems it is probably my computer and not the network.

When you are within range of the wireless network that you are having trouble with, go to Start > Run and type cmd then click OK. In the command prompt window that opens, type ipconfig /all then hit the enter key. Write down the output from this command or select it and save it to a txt file, then copy this output into a reply to this message.  With this information we may be able to help.

It looks like you are making a connection to the wireless network, but something is preventing you from connecting to the internet from the wireless network.  I spent some time looking through Grambling's web site, but could find nothing in terms of computer support that might help me understand how their network works.  Do they claim that their network is compatible with Windows Vista?  Are you running any firewall software that might be blocking the internet connection?

i'm not using windows vista i'm using windows xp pro service pack 2, but i know its compatible with vista becaue my friend runs vista on her laptop with no problem the only virus software i'm running is bullguard. but it had been letting me gain access to the internet before. but i will try turning it off and then see what happens.

The reason I thought you were running Vista is that your ipconfig output shows that you have IPv6 running.  Is there a reason you are running this?  Do you know why it is installed on your computer?  If you don't need it for something else, you might consider uninstalling it as it could be causing the problem.  Instructions for uninstalling IPv6 can be found at:

no i didnt know it was on there i dont know of anything that could be using it. i'll try uninstalling it hopefully that fixes the problem.
