Mark,
Try this tweak...
Start, control panel, device manager. Click on Network and then right click on your wireless adapter, left click properties, power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.

Mark,
Make and model of your wireless router and the type of security being used.
Try running Finding System Information remove your product id and post the rest of the information back here.

Mark,
Not sure if this will work. I usually recommend using these Recommended Wireless Router Settings, I use channel 11. I tried to help another member and the Belkin N router had trouble determining the difference between WPA-PSK(TKIP) Security(personal) and WPA-AES. If your adapter supports WPA-AES, the try those settings and see if the connection lasts longer.
My old Netgear used to lease the ip address for a short time and would disconnect, similar to what you're seeing. I'm thinking it might be a setting there.
Have any cordless 2.4 or 5.8 phones. These work on the same frequencies and the wireless router and can cause disconnections.
