Will XPS lap 501 X support 3g
Hi
i have purchased an XPS lap ( L 501 X ) in USA and i am currently using it in India.
It have a SIM slot. Will this support 2g / 3g. As per technical specifications, the wireless supported by my lap are
Wireless
- Wi-Fi Options:
Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 1000
Intel® Centrino® Ultimate-N 6300 802.11 a/b/g/n (3x3)
Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6200 802.11 a/g/n
Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250 802.11 a/g/n
Mobile Broadband Options: (WWAN)
Dell Wireless 5540 HSPA mobile broadband11 mini card
Dell Wireless 5620 EVDO-HSPA mobile broadband11 mini card
WiMax:
Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250 802.11 a/g/n
Bluetooth Options:
Bluetooth® 3.0
Optional: GPS enabled
Wired communications
Integrated Gigabit ethernet 10/100/1000
My doubt. is weather i need to use a separate dongle to get 3g net connection in india...or the SIM slot will support 3g ..and that is enough to get a 3g net connection..
regards,
Jibu

The SIM slot alone is useless with the optional mobile broadband WWAN card. However, those cards that Dell sells are for ISPs in the USA. You'll need to contact your 3G ISP in India regarding hardware.

for your needs in India, the SIM slot is useless and using a USB dongle is the way to go
