Windows Defender is corrupting my linksys wireless network

After downloading Windows Defender I discovered that my my Linksys wireless network (router = WRT300N, computer card = LKSWPC300N) was no longer working. Linksys technical support concluded that they could not fix the problem since the router and computer card were working fine and they recommended that I call Dell or Microsoft to get a solution to the problem created by Windows Defender. I would appreciate any advice on how this can be corrected. Again, the wireless network worked fine until I downloaded Windows Defender.

I have never heard of Windows defender corrupting the wireless network and it has never corrupted any of mine.   Have you tried disabling Windows Defender temporarily to see if that is the problem?  If disabling does solve the problem, I would recommend uninstalling it, then reinstalling Windows Defender.

Soon as I downloaded Windows Defender it deleted my wireless connection and Linksys technical support, after one hour, gave up and said the problem was the download. How do you temporarily disable Windows Defender? Thanks.

If you open Network Connections, is your wireless network connection shown there?  Is your wireless network adapter listed in Device Manager if you expand the listing for network adapters?  You need to provide a complete picture of the problem, otherwise I am just making guesses as to how to help you.

Steve. I'm going get help from a friend who does this for a living. I thought there might be readily available fix and since I am a wireless novice, I feel inadequate to the task of assisting you, especially through typed communication. Thanks

Steve, I wanted to give you a courtesy follow-up. As best I can explain, there is a conflict between the Linksys software and the windows defender software. With technical assistance, I uninstalled the software for my notebook adapter (LKS WPC 300N) and then reinstalled it. There has to be a proper sequencing of these software installations or a conflict occurs. Excuse my lack of computerese. Thank you.
