Windows Firewall
Everytime I log on my Inspiron 9200, I always have to turn my firewall on. Why is that? I never have to do that with my PC. I am also running Norton. I am using Linksys WCG200 wireless router. When I go to Network Connections it shows me connected but with no firewall. Once I check "yes" to the firewall, It shows my connection firewalled. Is there something I can do to keep the firewall on "forever"?
If I forget to turn on firewall will I be okay? Will Norton at least keep me protected?

You say you are running Norton. Which Norton is it? Norton Antivirus? Norton Internet Security? Norton Utilities? Norton Antivirus does not have a firewall. Norton Utilities does not have a firewall. Norton Internet Security does have a firewall. If you are running Norton Internet Security, is the Norton Personal Firewall enabled and set to run at startup? When you say you have to activate the firewall, are you talking about the Windows firewall or the Norton Firewall? Have you set the Windows Security Center to use the Norton Firewall (if you have it)?

I have Norton Internet Security. It shows my Personal Firewall is On. In Configurations, everything is on automatic. I am talking about my Windows Firewall. I have to always check the "On (Recomended)" box. I seem to have found a shortcut to doing this by right clicking on my Wirless Network Connection icon in the task bar, ( novice to intermediate computer knowledge) and changing the Windows Firewall Settings to On. I really don't mind doing this but if I don't have to, that's aiight with me.

If you are running Norton Internet Security, you do not want to also be running the Windows Firewall. The Norton Personal Firewall is much better. Windows turns its own firewall off when you reboot because it is detecting that the Norton Firewall is running. This is how Windows is designed to work. Running two firewalls at the same time has the potential for causing all kinds of problems, so just keep the Windows Firewall off.

Thanks for thie information. And you are right about what you mentioned. I found my Windows Security and it also talked about not running 2 firewalls. I just turned my Windows Firewall Off. Now I don't have to worry about that anymore. Thanks! :womanvery-happy:
