Wired internet connection drops after 45 min on 600m
I just got a 600m recently and I've been loving it so far, no problems, untill a few days ago. For some reason when my laptop has been on for awhile, about 30 minutes to an hour, the internet connection drops. I am unable to go anywhere in IE or Firefox, however I was still getting a file through a P2P app. So I unplug the ethernet cable and then put it back in. No go. I reset the laptop and the problem is fixed temporarily and I can browse the web until it stops working again after an hour. I've got my laptop plugged into AC too. This has happened for the 3rd straight day in a row and leads me to think its a recurrent event, can anyone help me figure out why this is happening? Its really frusterating. One time I had my computer just turned on for about an hour, when I plugged the ethernet cable into I was still unable to open any websites in IE. Thanks!

i have a 600m with this exact same problem. tech support (in india of course) was of no assistance after nearly 2 hours of effort. did you perhaps sort out any resolution to this problem?
at first, i thought it might be related to the dell quickset and its attempts to manage the power save features of the NIC, but the problem persists even after i disable that feature. when the LAN dies, the wired Broadcom hardware physically disappears from the device manager. something tells me this is some strange hardware glitch, but i cannot be sure.
as murphy would have it, my system just went out of warranty on 12/3/2004. sigh.

Have you tried disabling the quickset software and allowing Windows to manage the wireless connection?

i've been fiddling with it some more and windows just does not see the hardware at this point. my hub does not see any link when the machine is plugged in, either.
sure seems like a dead LAN port to me. any other ideas?

My problem seemed to go away by itself after a few weeks. Though I now use a wireless router and don't have the same problems.
I did update to SP2 and all the windows updates. Hope you can get it solved.

it seems that at some random point, the system detects the network port and the system activates it like normal. the Broadcom card then reappears in the device manager upon refreshing the listing and all is normal again.
if it is a hardware problem, it's weird that it can drop out randomly on its own without disturbing the laptop at all.
this is very odd.
