wireless adapter not working/unable to use Wi-Fi adapter

Hi,

I use a Latitude E6540. I recently used the "dell command update" software to update the drivers and some of the dell applications. There was an update for the "Dell wireless 1506 802.11b/g/n" the wireless adapter. after installing the update for the wireless driver the computer restarted and then nothing works. I could not connect to any of the Wi-Fi networks. I mean, it was not showing any Wi-Fi devices. I could not even search for any Wi-Fi networks. it just says "unexpected error". I uninstalled and then re-installed the driver with a previous version but still it just does not work.

also, I tried using the dell "unified wireless application". it says no wireless adapter although the adapter driver is already installed. and I cannot enable the "wireless radio" using this application.

This problem is driving me crazy. any help would be much appreciated.

Hi,

First, is the wireless card recognized within the System Setup (BIOS)?  You might want to go into BIOS and make sure that wireless is enabled.

Second, have you tried rolling back your system to a restore point prior to the problem occurring?  That might help resolve the problem.

Third, have you tried physically removing the card from the system and then reseating it?  Maybe it just needs to be physically reset to get the system to recognize it.

Those would be my first three suggestions.  Try those and see if any help, and let us know which, if any, resolve the problem.  If none, we'll try and find some other suggestions for you to try.
