Wireless card doesn't work after installing new RAM
Dell 8400 - Vista - TWO 1GB 4200/&NBST 533MHz and TWO 512 5300 667MHz
If I install one matched pair, the wireless network is found and will connect to the network. If I install all four, the network is not found and the wireless will not connect. The network card is Netgear G PCI adapter 54MBTS 2.4GHz.
Any suggestions? A new card was purchased and had the same results.
Thank you.
Cass

This is very typical throughout the industry. If you didn't make a part that is supposed to interact with your part, it must be the fault of the other part. That's why we usually recommend that if you are buying network devices (routers and network adapters, for example) to buy them from th same manufacturer. Of course you can't by all of the network components, the computer, and the operating system from the same Manufacturer riight now, but perhaps in the future when Microsoft owns everything, this will avoid this kind of problem. Of course if Microsoft is making everything, we will likely have even more problems, but at least they won't be able to blame the problem on Dell or Netgear. They probably just won't answer the phone.

The kb link shows that Vista maxes out at 4MB RAM. We only installed 3MB. We then installed 4MB with four matching cards just in case that was the issue. It was not.
As for purchasing; we purchase just about everything from Dell to ensure compatibility. We called Dell to ensure the NetGear card was compatible, but bought it elsewhere at less than half what Dell wanted.
As for Microsoft: I thought it already owned the world? (Maybe it doesn't quite own it, but it does have it by the gonads.)
