Wireless connection problems on Inspiron 15R N5110

Hi there. I'm having problems connecting to the Internet using the wireless adaptor - it will connect initially but the connection is very very slow and then will eventually drop out and stop working.

When I connect using an Ethernet cable, there are no problems whatsoever so I know it is not a service provider issue.

I have updated the BIOS to A11 and all drivers are up to date. The wireless adaptor is Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030

I have copied the ipconfig data to assist... please help as I need to be able to connect to the wireless network at home and university!

Thanks in advance

wanderlust22,

Can you connect in the same room? What happens when you go away from the router?

Go to Drivers & Downloads enter your service tag number, then select your operating system. Under Network, download and install the latest drivers.

Try these tweaks....

Start, control panel, device manager. Click on Network and then right click on your wireless adapter, left click properties, power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.

Intel ~ Recommended settings for 802.11n connectivity

Go to the power options, and changed the Wireless Adapter Setting, from Maximum Power Setting to Maximum Performance.

Hi Rick, thanks for your response

I have already downloaded the latest drivers via the Service Tag option through the Dell website. This didn't have any effect

I'm unable to connect to wireless from anywhere in the house, even sitting right next to the router. But the Ethernet connection works fine.

The Power settings were already set to "Maximum performance" but I did uncheck the "allow computer to turn off this device to save power" box. Still won't connect properly though.

My computer is still in warranty so should I just send it off for them to take a look?

wanderlust22,

You're under warranty, contact Dell Tech Support. They have some options they can try.

Keep me posted.
