Wireless N and Inspiron 8600
Currently I have the intel 2915ABG mini pci card in my inspiron 8600 laptop. I would like to get a wireless N card. From what I can tell in browsing this forum, there is not a wireless N mini pci card available for this computer since it is old; unless someone knows otherwise. So, it looks like a PCMCIA type wireless N adapter is what I need to get (I don't want USB). My thought was that while at home using my wireless N router (D-Link DIR-655) I would use the wireless N adapter, yet when I travel, I would just use the internal 2915ABG mini pci card which is more convenient as I don't have any cards sticking out of the computer (more compact). My question is, if I get a wireless N PCMCIA card, can both cards co-exist in the computer or do I need to remove the internal 2915ABG card?

I went ahead and purchased a D-Link DWA-652 Xtreme N Notebook PCMCIA adapter and installed it in my laptop. I did not have to remove the internal 2915ABG mini pci card. Since I had windows managing the mini pci adapter, I did the same when setting up the D-Link adapter; set it up to have windows manage the adapter instead of the D-Link connection manager. After the setup was complete, I now have two wireless network connection icons in the system tray with both cards installed and 'on'. When I want to use the wireless N D-Link adapter, I just toggle the mini pci adapter off via Fn + F2 keys. When I want to use the internal mini pci adapter, I just remove the wireless N adapter and toggle the internal one back on.
