wireless networking with older dells

Question

I have two older Dells a 2400 and a 4450.My local cable has been upgraded and now I can get a two way cable modem and set up a LAN, in theory. The question is ,can these computers be set up for a wireless LAN? And if so how ,and what ,besides the modem and router ,do I need?Of course if it cant be done it's the perfect excuse for at least one new computer... Thanks.  Vic

First, note that wireless routers have 4 ethernet ports.  Thus, any computer that is close enough to the router and modem can be connected to the network by ethernet and will not require wireless network adapters.     For those that need a wireless adapter, you have two choices.  (1) A PCI wireless adapter which would plug into a free PCI slot inside the computer, or (2) a USB wireless network adapter which would simply plug into a USB port on the outside of the computer.     Both types can easily be found at electronics stores like Bust Buy, Circuit City, Frey's etc.   Steve
