Is your wireless radio turned on?  The Fn F2 key combination toggles the wireless radio on and off.

You need to provide some more details.  If you go to Device Manager and expand the listings for network adapters, does your wireless network adapter show up?  If you open Network Connections, is there a listing for your wireless network?  If so, click right click on it and select "View Available Wireless Networks".   Does your wireless network show up?  If so, what happens when you select it and then click on the Connect button?

Yes, wireless network shows up under DM. there is no listing for the network in NC. says "windows can't configure..."

when i open the WLAN Card Utility, my wireless conn. icon shows up, but has a red X through it.
"Let this tool manage...." is enabled, as well as the radio. i appear to have the latest driver--have run a couple of searches.
thanks again for your help!

First, uncheck the box in Dell wireless utility so that Windows is managing the connection and not the Dell utility.   Does this help?

Nope--says "no wireless networks in range"

Have you tried power-cycling the router (turn it off, wait a few minutes, turn it back on)?
