Wireless on Windows 98
I added a wireless card to my notebook. And I was getting assistance with setup. It's a Linksys Wireless B router, and notebook adaptor. I came to a problem trying to install drivers. There were a bunch of prompts for searching for recommended drivers. And for each of the following cases, the computer wanted, but could not locate any of these files on the Windows 98 CD, nor on the hard drive. It specifically requests the Windows CD. And I know I have the right CD it's asking for. Could someone take a short moment and search their CD, for these?

msnet32.dll
msnp32.dll
mspp32.dll
networks
pmspl.dll
Should my CD, or any Windows CD have them?

Those .dll files are buried in .cab files on the Win98 CD so a search will not reveal them. Most likely the path was incorrectly specified when the driver installation tried to copy them to the operating system. Reinstall the drivers and when you are asked for the Win98 CD make sure the path d:\win98 is correctly specified. Many times the path is pre-selected as just d:\, which is incorrect. The files should be found.

Your Windows 98 CD has five folders in the root folder, the last of which is a folder named win98. In that folder are .cab cabinet files, and in the .cab files are the .dll files you need. (.cab files are similar to .zip files.) The only way to properly install the .dll files you need is to perform a driver installation for the adapter you are trying to install and when the installation process asks you to insert the Win 98 CD make sure the path on that window reads d:\win98 (assuming your CD-ROM is the d: drive). The .dll files will be automatically extracted out of the appropriate .cab files and written on the hard drive in the appropriate system folder.

Ok. You seem to have a handle on that situation. Then you are saying I should just enter the Windows CD and type a path. But I searched the entire CD for such files, and it can't find these files. Thus typing a path won't help.
