Somehow the wireless setup is lost and when trying to setup a new wireless connection using linksys, I get the message that wirelss radio is off.  How do I fix this?

The pc is a dimension e310.  There is no Fn key.  Do I just try to toggle the F2?  Thanks for the help.

It is always essential that whenever you post here you tell us the model of the computer.  Each model is different, so without that all we can do is provide a wild guess.   On most, but not all, Dell notebook computers with internal wireless cards, the Fn F2 key combination toggles the wireless radio on and off.  Have you tried that?

Well, that's a good reason that I should not have taken a wild guess.   Since desktop computers do not come with wireless network adapters, I will now need to know which make and model wireless network adapter you added to that machine.   That will hopefully allow me to search the internet for the adapter's user guide so I can read it and see what options are availble.  Of course you could try reading the user guide and it might save a lot of time.

I'm using a linksys wireless-g, model WUSB54G.  I couldn't find anything in the  manual that talked about a radio switch.  I also searched the linksys web site and didn't find anything.  Then I moved the pc and connected it to the router and went on the linksys web site and tried their wizard to fix....and got a similar message that the radio was off, that I should switch it on and then click next on their wizard.  So I'm back at the beginning, trying to figure out how to toggle the wireless radio on.   Any help would be appreciated.

(fyi...my laptop pc is able to use the wireless, so it does not seem to be a problem with the router setup)

Thanks,  Cindy

The adapter power light is on, but the link light is not.  The icon is neither green nor grey, but it is x'd out.

This pc has been using this linksys setup for a year and quit working a week ago.  I'm thinking of uninstalling the linksys and reinstalling...can't think of anything else to do.

First, try a different USB port.   Uniinstalling and reinstalling is good strategy.  Just make sure the device is not plugged when during the uninstall and reinstall.  Only after the software is installed should you plug the device back in.

With the computer powered on, the router powered on, and the USB wireless network adapter connected to a USB port on your computer, does the green link light on the adapter light up?

Do you have the Linksys Wireless Network Monitor Icon in the system tray (area next to the clock in the lower right corner of the screen)?  If so, what color is it (green or gray)?

Well after trying everything I could think of including a different usb port and uninstalling and reinstalling, I borrowed a different usb network adaptor which worked.  So off to the store I went and bought a new linksys adapter.   I was thrown off track from the radio is off message.  I am now back on line....wireless.  Thanks for your help and suggesstions, Steve.   Cindy
