Wireless Radio On - No Wireless Network Option???

I have a Dell Latitude X300 laptop running XP Home Edition.  I lost the hard drive, put a new one in, got all the software installed and updated the drivers.  Now, I show that the wireless radio turns on and off and Device Manager shows it is working properly; however, there is no wireless option in "network connections" and I can't see my wireless hub/router.  Everything works great as long as my network wire is plugged in but I can't get anything wireless.  Any ideas?  How do I know that it's really working and if it is, shouldn't there be a "connect to wireless network" option in "network connections?"  Thanks.

Try booting to Safe Mode, uninstalling the wireless adapter, then booing into Normal Mode and reinstalling the drivers for the wireless adapter.
