Wireless Recognizing Networks but unable to connect

I was connected to my home network yesterday and suddenly I was disconnected. I got closer to the router and was able to reconnect. There were two other laptops in the house that were able to connect fine. I took my laptop to other locations where I have been able to connect in the past, could see the networks but was unable to connect. Consistently get the message "windows was unable to connect to XXXXX". I have updated drivers and retried. I have rolled back drivers and retried. I have uninstalled network cards and rebooted and still no success. I changed out my home router and when I get within six feet I have success but I can stand directly under WAPs in other locations and have no success. I have used the windows troubleshooter and it tells me to contact my administrator. I have run the Dell Diagnostics to no success I can get a connection when I am hard wired in. I am at the end of my capabilities, Help Please I have a Dell Inspiron 17R 5720 with the following newtwork adapters; Dell wireless 1704 802.11b/g/n (2.4gHz) / Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter / RealTek PCIe FE Family Controller. My new router is a Linksys smart router that works with all other computers that try. The other access points I try also work with multiple computers.
