Wireless won't connect to router

Question

I have an Inspiron 6000 laptop, with on-board wireless. Running XP. My wireless connection has been working fine, then I took the laptop away and used soemone else's wifi. SInce returning home, my wireless connection fires up and says 'Connected to [home] WiFi'. However, it does not then connect to the router, so I cannot 'see' my home network or internet.

I have reloaded the latest wireless drivers, re-booted everything, checked I only have one copy of Winsock. Tried running IPConfig, but is says I have to be connected to do that (!?).

The XP troubleshooter log says:

To help troubleshoot this problem, go to Start > Run and type cmd then click OK. In the command prompt window that opens, type ipconfig /all then hit the enter key. Write down the output from this command or select it and save it to a txt file, then copy this output into a reply to this message.   Steve

Thanks for response, below is info. you requested. I would add that everything works OK when I plug an ethernet cable in - it's only wireless which is not working.

Your wireless card is set to a static IP address.  This will work on the network for which that IP address applies, but will not work on any other network.  To fix this, open Network Connections, right click your wireless connection and select Properties from the drop-down menu.  Find the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in the list.  Select it, then click on the Properties button.   Put a check mark in the box next to 'Obtain IP address automatically' and, if necessary, put a check mark in the box next to 'Obtain DNS server address automatically'.  That should fix it.   Steve
