WL7024 bug? Touch controls stop working

I have this problem: New Dell Pro WL7024 ANC headset, connected to Dell laptop using USB-C dongle.
If I enable "Wear Detection" and I take the headset off, and then put it back on my head, the touch controls do not re-enable.  To get them back I have to turn off the headset.  Is this a bug, or do I have a defective headset?

For direct Dell Technical Support, click the blue "Get Help Now" on the right to start a private live chat session. Share with them the private Service Tag, issues, this thread link, and all of your troubleshooting. This will in turn generate a unique Technical Support case for your unique Service Tag. If you don't have a Dell system, but the headset was recently purchased, then you'll need your Dell Order number for assistance from Technical Support.

I'd recommend ensuring you have the headsets firmware updated to the latest possible version 1.7.0.0. I'd also pick up the optional dongle pairing tool:

https://www.dell.com/support/product-details/en-us/product/dell-wl7024-headsets/drivers

The troubleshooting guide doesn't mention that temporary loss in functionality. So if you're still having issues with the touch features after updates, then contact Support for warranty assistance.

Hi Daniel V,

Thanks.  I have updated the headset and dongle using the firmware updater I downloaded from the support site, dated Aug 2025.  The behavior is still the same: off-head detection works once, but when I pick up the headset and put it on, it must think it is still off, because touch controls don't work.  My only solution is to disable Wear Detection.
