XPS 8500 Ethernet Issues
Hey Gang,
I've just purchased a new XPS 8500. Everything worked perfectly for 2 days then I started having network connection issues. Both Ethernet and wireless. All other devices in my house are working (wireless and Ethernet) so I'm certain it is not the router.
I've downloaded and installed new drivers with no success.
Ethernet says it is connected to a "unidentified network" and there is no internet access
Wireless will connect with my router with "limited connectivity" and no internet access.
Help please. I have a 3 week old baby and do not adequate sleep for further problem solving on my own :)

Haziwa,
Do you have McAfee installed? If yes, use system restore and go back before Saturday night and see if you can connect. One of McAfee;s updates caused connection problems.

Thanks Rockstar Rick,
That fixed the problem. No do I just not install McAfee? Or is there a work around?

sorry. That was poorly written.
What I meant was, given that it was McAfee that caused the problems, I have not re-installed it. I was wondering is there a work around that enables me to install McAfee (and future updates) without disabling my internet access?

Haziwa,
McAfee has corrected the problem, so when you reinstall McAfee, you'll be connected.

Rick, Hi! is there a McAfee Rev # I can check to see if I need to update my McAfee antivirus SW? (I also have an issue where my wired Ethernet on my XPS8500 is not working.) Thanks, Frank V
