CPU Upgrade to Dimension E520
We're thinking of upgrading our E520 from a Pentium 4 Processor to an E6300. Is an update to the BIOS necessary or can we just replace and go?

The Conroe E6300 should work fine in the E520, but you need BIOS version 2.2.1, where additional CPU support was added.

Thanks for the quick reply. Pardon my ignorance, but do we flash the BIOS just after installation of the E6300 processor? Will the computer boot up before the
BIOS update? I noticed the latest BIOS is 2.4, is the CPU support in that version as well?

You flash the BIOS before upgrading the processor.
Yes, the latest BIOS version will have all the updates included.
