dimension b110 system restore problem

Hello, I currently own a dell dimension b110 and my family was playing on it and it suddenly started to continue to get past the dell screen show the black screen which allows you to statrt up your computer a certain way( last known good config , safe mode etc...  and when you select one it restarts itself and returns to the same screen no matter when you press it returns to that screen. I have tried to do system restore CTRL + F11 and it keeps on restarting and wont let me in. would anyone have any ideas How i can overcome this pain in the situation?

Thank you,

Tom

It sounds like the Dell recovery partition on your hard drive is corrupted (and possibly the entire hard drive because you can't boot anymore).

If you have the Dell Windows XP install CD, boot with the CD (you may have to temporarily change the boot sequence in the BIOS (startup) - F2 at boot up) so the CD drive is the first boot device) and select "Repair" rather than install.  This will run the Windows XP Repair setup that will fix whatever operating system files that are corrupt or missing.

How to run Repair  from the Microsoft site.

Dell Customers can request a set of backup discs containing the factory-installed operating system as well as the device drivers and utilities specific to your system from HERE.

Hello,

Take a look at the troubleshooting page for your B110 system.

Let us know what you find.

Smurf1789,

Restart your computer.  Press F8.  If your system is Windows XP SP2, then on the Advanced Startup screen you should see a choice to "Disable automatic restart on error..."  Select that choice.  Now, when Windows attempts to start it should blue screen with a STOP: 0x000000xx bugcheck code and a description of the error.  A file name may or may not be given.  Let us know what bugcheck code is displayed, the description and associated file name.
