help needed installing new hard drive
I purchased a new hardrive for my old computer so i could use it in my classroom but when I began replacing it I found that the cables that connected the old hard drive are not compatable with the new HD. Any help would be appreciated! (I figured it couldnt be that difficult....)

Make and model of the computer would be helpful and operating system, if known.

The computer is a Dimension 4400 but since is not here I do not have the make and model of the HD. The new HD is made by WD though if that helps at all.

Chances are you bought a SATA drive, which isn't supported by the older system. You'll have two options: return the drive for a parallel ATA version, or purchase a PCI SATA controller card to run the drive. Given that most SATA drives now have only SATA power taps, you'll also need a Molex to SATA power adapter, most likely.
