Laptop
Video playback Choppy
I am using Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1 on a Dell Inspiron 1721 Laptop. It doesn't matter what I try to watch, movies, video ( like 'YouTube'), music videos, the news feeds ,etc. I cannot get a playback that doesn't stop and restart every second or two. I understand buffering and all but it seems my computer should be fast enough to playback without this annoyance. I know it's available because I've watched others playback normally. What can I get to fix this?

Hello,
These files that you have problems with. Are they streaming or are they completely downloaded on your computer?
If the music, video, or whatever is being downloaded as it's being played, this sounds like a lack of bandwidth with your internet connection.

I agree.
Whether you've been able to watch some videos without seeing the same problem or not, the pauses are almost certainly due to the videos having to be buffered, because your broadband connection can't stream the video 'live'?
The only way around it (other than a faster broadband connection of course) is to download the videos first :emotion-55:

Thanks to both of you for responding. I appreciate your time.
So, I guess everything except for "live"programs (like the news), tv programs, music videos, "you tube" stuff, etc. will start and stop unless I download it first because of my broadband connection. Is a wireless connection faster than DSL? I still connect my phoneline with DSL to my wireless modem. I have a Dell Wireless 1505 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini-Card Ethernet 802.3 onboard. My work has free wireless and my connection seems faster when I'm at work than at home. I just wish watching stuff on the computer was like watching on TV. A 30 second video takes like 4 minutes to watch. I just don't have the patience necessary. But,nothing I can do I guess, huh?
