Need Help with cd dvd player

Ok, that's a good clue. If you used to be able to play a certain game but it no longer works, then the question is what changed? You might have a new anti-virus program or something else taking up CPU power. Or perhaps all you need is a clean installation of the operating system.

Hi, Thanks for your reply this problem is driving me crazy, the only thing that has changed is I got another cd-dvd player from dell. But that didn't fix the problem. dell told me to reload window operating dish, so we did that. but still has the same problem, will play cd and dvd, when I try to play games it will play in slow motion and the voices skips or stops then play again. chopy.    Thanks for all your help. i will let you know if anythings works.

Nothing worked....

It sounds like when you are playing a game that uses a lot of memory, it's choppy. Probably because you have other processes running in the background. Do the following and see if this works:

1. Go to Start Menu

2. Click Run

3. Type msconfig

4. Click on the tab that says "Start Up"

5. And check off what you don't want to start up when Windows starts up.

This will eliminate a lot of processes starting when Windows starts and it will free up some of your memory. Maybe give yourself a little bit more virtual memory too?

1. Right Click on My Computer

2. Click Properties

3. Click "Advanced" tab

4. Click Settings

5. Click Advanced Tab

6. You will see "Virtual Memory" at the bottom, click the "Change" button.

7. Click on the "Custom Size" button and give yourself 3000 - 4000MB of Virtual Memory (which should be more than enough" and click "Set" when you're done and close out of everything. Restart your PC and see if that helps!

This is not a CD drive problem. That's why nothing has worked.
