P C RESTORE DOESN'T WORK
Hi, I am new to any community including this one.
I have a new Inspiron 530 with XP Pro and I'm about to pull what little hair I have out. For the past 2 days, I have been trying to get the "Ctrl" and F11 to work but it is simply ignored and the normal boot continues. Tech support has been no help at all as all they want to do is get me to pay for their asistance.
So, does anyone have the answer to making "Ctrl" +F11 to work?
Many Thanks

First, if you have PC restore for Windows XP, you should be seeing a blue bar at the top of the screen immediately following the POST screen after you start or restart the computer. Below the blue bar you may see "Loading Descriptor for PBR2..." if you look quickly. To get this type of PC restore to work you need to press CTRL_F11, releasing both keys simultaneously before the message about PBR2 shows up below the blue bar. If you do this successfully you should get a menu of choices. If you don't have the blue bar, you don't have this type of PC restore.

In addition to Jack's good advice, here is Dell's step by step instructions:
