pdf files and encoding box

hi all im new here today

i have the latest version of adobe reader installed on my laptop.  i have recently tried to download a manual and it downloads fine but when i come to open the manual i get an encoding box, im sure ive done something wrong, all i see are letters and numbers, nothing makes sense

can anyone help me with this please?

Make sure the file you have downloaded is a .pdf file.  If it has some other type of file extension that could be the problem.  If the file you downloaded is a compressed (zip) file it will have to be "unzipped" before you can use it.

Post what/where the file is and I'll try it.

The Adobe PDF reader can be buggy.  I use "Foxit Reader" which is an alternate to the Adobe PDF reader.  I've been using this for about a year and it works without problems.  It can be downloaded HERE
