Does your computer have a video card or is it using the onboard graphics? I think the onboard graphics limits how much will be rendered on the monitor. What about other sites you visit? Do they fill up the entire screen?
I have something of a similar issue(only just the opposite) in regards to this site. The pages are wider than my screen and I have to use the horizontal scroll bar to see the far right side of a page.
Maybe someone more knowledgeable than us can help out.
