3.5" HDD bracket and cable needed for Optiplex 3080 SFF
Hello
I am about to purchase a second-hand Optiplex 3080 SFF that comes with an M.2 2230 256GB PCIe NVMe drive installed.
SupportAssist for the 3080 I want to buy indicates "575-BBKX : No Hard Drive Bracket, Dell OptiPlex" and further indicates "W21JJ" as the reference number.
I have a 3.5" HDD in my old OptiPlex 7010 that I want to install in the HDD bay in the 3080 in addition to the 256GB already installed in the 3080.
The Setup and Specifications PDF for the 3080 SFF says "One SATA slots for 3.5-inch Hard-disk drive/2.5-inch Harddisk"
I will thus need a bracket or caddy for my 3.5" HDD. But I can't find the part on the Web. All I see are brackets for a 2.5" HDD. And I can't find either part or part number on the Dell Web site.
Can anyone help me? Will I need both a 2.5" bracket and a 3.5" adapter bracket for the 3080 SFF? If so where can I find the part numbers and buy the parts?
Also, will I need a SATA cable to connect the drive or use the one now in my old 7010 as well as the old mounting screws? If so what do I need to buy?
Many thanks for your help!

All of these show as "For sale: No". You will need to search the web for a 3rd party seller.
6V78K bracket removable drive bay, metal
73VN7 bracket 2.5" HDD caddy, metal
XNPTX bracket 3.5" HDD caddy, blue plastic
HG2F3 HDD/ODD SATA power cable

you need the 3.5 metal bracket/caddy as shown in this video Dell Optiplex 3080 SFF Open Cover - YouTube
you do not need any plastic caddy to mount a 3.5 in 3080 sff.
Ask your seller to send you a pic of inside of pc. it is possible that you may already have this part?

Optiplex 3080 Documentation
Optiplex 3080 Spec Sheet
Hi @DELL-Chris M,
Would you be able to assist here? @John Dalkas wants to fit a 3.5" HDD inside the 3080 SFF, but needs the part #'s to order the bracket and/or caddy.
Spec sheet for the 3080 indicates the SFF can hold one 3.5" HDD. Owner's Manual only indicates 2.5" HDD.

@John Dalkas,
If we find out the 3080 can take a 3.5" HDD, the SATA cable from your 7010 should be just fine.
If not, an external HDD bay might be best. Some external HDD bay options on Amazon

Thanks for all this help! Much appreciated.
Are none of these parts available from Dell? So I have to search the Web for sellers?

I would first try on line Dell live agent chat for the metal bracket Chris posted, 6V78K. Ask agent to send you a real picture and confirm it is the same as that in video. then ask agent if they have it in stock. given the newest optiplex is 7090, it is possible that 7080/3080 spare part may be available through Dell. third party source still scant now.

John
Were you able to come up with the parts needed for you 3080? I am in the same boat looking for the same parts for a 7080.
Thanks
Don

Don,
My apologies, after searching for a long time I just gave up. Sorry. Hard to believe Dell doesn't make parts like this easily available. I just searched again for 6V78K as posted below with no luck. But I'll try Dell tech support again just in case and let you know:

Email to that address was undeliverable. I got it from a chat with Dell.

FWIW the phone number is for French tech support (I'm in Paris). Can't reach anyone at that number; it just disconnects on me. Have emailed someone who responded on the live chat. Will let you know if that goes anywhere...

US Dell chat:
6V78K the part is available with us and it costs you: $9.99 before taxes Just a head's up the part is a refurbished part. Having said that it is not a used product. Supplier sends the spare parts in sealed boxes in bulk and once we break the seal, each individual item can no longer be sold as a “New” product and as per Industry norm it is labeled as “Refurbished” and they come with 90 days of warranty.

Hi,
This is great. I can't believe my eyes especially since haven't heard a word from Dell France (yet).
Is the part for a 2.5 or 3.5" drive or both not that it really matters. (I can't tell from the photos.)
As I recall you mentioned the following in a previous exchange:
6V78K bracket removable drive bay, metal
73VN7 bracket 2.5" HDD caddy, metal
XNPTX bracket 3.5" HDD caddy, blue plastic
HG2F3 HDD/ODD SATA power cable
In addition to the part, is the SATA power cable also available? Might as well order both at the same time.
LMK how we can arrange the purchase and shipment to me in Paris.
Many thanks for your help!

It is for 3.5. picture appears to show bay+metal caddy. you would need to chat w Dell US directly online, as I am a volunteer not a Dell sales advisor. When I chat w them I got the real item picture and stock/pricing.
