360, PCI Simple Communications Controller
Dell Optiplex 360, currently running Windows 7 32-bit. All has been fine, until lightning struck the Creative Blaster modem that came with it.
Replaced modem with another modem (not Creative Blaster), and once inserted, machine tries to install the drivers, but comes up with PCI Simple Communications Controller, no driver. Nothing on Dell's website for any modem drivers or chipset drivers.
The only thing stamped on the replacement modem is (it looks like) Alphanet. No drivers came with it, can not find any information on it. I have tried both PCI slots, and get the same error.

Apart from wondering why you are still using Windows-7, I'm wondering why you are bothering to replace an analog-modem.

"PCI Simple Communications Controller"
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2E07&CC_0700
are INTEL CHIPSET Drivers
Its 2 or 3 pieces that must be done.
INTEL AMT HECI SOL R229705 AMT SOL LMS

This would also indicate that the Audio Codec is missing.
