7010 Not responding after Windows updates
New Dell Optiplex Micro 7010, with newly installed WD Black SN850X NVMe SSD - 2 TB, added another 16GB RAM Kingston, not responding after installing Windows 11 and running the first updates.
While installing the updates I got a black screen, but I could still see the cursor, then only the black screen and monitor went into sleep mode because it didn't detect any signal. Now, is just powering up and not responding to any keystrokes, nothing. If I do a force shutdown by holding down the power button for 5 seconds or more, it will shutdown but power up immediately.
I tried connecting another monitor on the display port with no success, I tried booting from a memory stick to reinstall Windows with no success, I removed the new NVMe and the added memory, put back the original NVMe and still can't boot, is just staying on.
It can't be pinged or reached over the network, so I can't access it at all.
I decided to check here before RMA the unit.
Any advice is welcome.
Thank you,
Rob

Reset CMOS via jumper to see if you can access BIOS settings and running ePSA diagnostics.
Use simple connection of integrated port to monitor. Nothing connect to USB ports except mouse, keyboard.
RMA option sounds good if it's within return period.

@Chino de Oro Where is that jumper? I was looking for it but couldn't find Micro Optiplex 7010 motherboard layout anywhere. I removed the CMOS battery but I knew will not be enough.
I think it might be several updates that went wrong.
First could be the newly KB that keeps computer in a looping restart, and 2nd chip and video...
I will go again on the product webpage hopefully I will find if there is a jumper and where.
The computer is brand new out of the box.
Thanks.

For system that does not utilize the jumper, you can press and hold the power button for 30 seconds or until it blinks. That is the method for RTC reset to recover Dell desktop computer https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000126023/how-to-reset-real-time-clock-rtc-to-recover-your-dell-desktop-system

Desktop computers manufactured after April 2020 use the RTC Reset ability.
What is the model # of the added Kingston RAM? KVR (Kingston Value RAM) has been hit or miss in Dell's. Their other RAM is ok.

@bradthetechnut It looks like it is the RAM. I bought this 16GB SO-DIMM 3200MHz/PC4 25600 to have 32GB RAM, and it worked first time I installed Windows and did the updates.

This machine doesn't like any memory. I tried now with a Crucial 16GB 3200MHz... I always have headaches with Dell computers... I mainly use a different brand that works so smooth with installing Windows from USB or through SCCM, upgrading parts, and so on... and when I have to work with Dell... This is my truth, my reality.

I will RMA this unit because will not boot if I place a 2nd RAM, no matter the brand: Kingston, Crucial, Corsair or Samsung. The original memory is a Samsung, so even adding a 2nd Samsung RAM with same frequency is not working.
Case closed.

Samsung is one the brands known to be working in newer Dell's. Even Crucial has been a miss in some of them.

@bradthetechnut I am going through updating and troubleshooting process again, before contacting Dell for RMA. Hopefully with the new BIOS update will work.

I removed the original memory and install the memory I want in 2nd slot, and it is a compatible memory, and is not booting up. I powering up, stays on for 3 seconds and then is shutting down.

I am in shock... So I confirmed to Dell tech support, with links to official website at Crucial, the memory is compatible with Dell Optiplex 7010 Micro, and they are telling me, well to purchase memory please contact our sales team... WOW
This is the last time I purchased a Dell system. I will stick to Lenovo because I have no headaches with their desktops....
3 compatible memory brands, and they won't admit is their system is not working, or maybe they are blocking any other memory if is not sold by Dell...
No more Dell. I'm done.

Samsung, Hynix (Dell's typical OEM, Micron (though they make Crucial), and Dell are brands known to be working in newer Dell's. Still acknowledging you had trouble with Samsung also.
I take it the added RAM also had the same volts.
Sorry to see you had so much trouble with it.

As mentioned in my first post, if you can not upgrade memory after hardware reset, RMA seems like a good option. Do not let the eligible returning window closing on you.
If the information you provided are correct, the Crucial ram should be a compatible upgrade. It works for other users. An example here https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/66781055
Verify and upload the information of your OEM memory module being used.

@Chino de Oro I tested with Kingston supported memory as well, with Vengeance and even Samsung because it is Samsung memory that came with the system.
I will try again to RMA the unit, but they won't accept there is a problem with the system.

By any chance did you try the new stick alone in your system?
