a10 Bios for Optiplex 790
I tried to install bios file 0790-a18.exe today on my Optiplex 790. It said I needed to install 0790-a10.exe before I could install it. I looked for 0790.a10.exe and found a download site with a floppy copy or a DOS copy. The floppy copy wants a floppy which I don't have and the DOS copy wouldn't work when I booted into FreeDOS and executed it. Please help me.

All the BIOS Updates for the OptiPlex 790 are available here:

First install A10 and then install A18.

I haven't had this issue before, but I do have a suggestion to offer. Have you tried installing a later BIOS revision such as A21 or A22? I'm definitely no expert, but maybe it has something to do with the A18 BIOS. I have updated the BIOS on a 790 and have never had this issue.

What @BehrTech said makes sense. BIOS can only be updated in segments. Depending on the current BIOS version, one can't jump to A21 or 22 (etc.) without having a certain previous version first. It's due to the updates and fixes they contain.
Didn't the download site give a "save as" option, allowing where you allocate the download? What is your current BIOS version?
Please know I also searched YouTube for answer on updating your 790. I searched dell.com, but it jumped to A18. The only way I could get A10 to come up is by keying in an older computer.

The A10 bios is no longer available from Dell. They have removed all BIOS historical files and only have the most current.
Does ANYONE have the A10 BIOS installed??? I have a Optiplex 790 mid tower with A07 and I can't upgrade to A21 without first installing A10.

Hi @GaryH ,
Sorry to hear you can't upgrade your BIOS.
Even if somebody does have A10 on their PC, it can't just be transferred to another PC.
I see the link @Philip_Yip gave above in 2018 now diverts to a different page.
Any particular reason why you want to upgrade? Problems with PC or added/wanting to add new hardware?
If everything is working fine on your 790, that's ok. You might just have to leave it until getting a newer PC.

@GaryH Thank you so much Gary! I had bought a used i7-3770 for my Optiplex 790 and for a minute there I thought I would have to return it...lol. Than I saw this and hope was restored.
